Accessibility statement for EIDF Portal website
This accessibility statement applies to the EIDF Portal website: https://portal.eidf.ac.uk/.
This website is run by EPCC, The University of Edinburgh.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to do the following:
- Increase font size and colour to make text more readable, using your web browser’s settings
- Listen to most of the website contents using a screen reader
- Zoom in at least up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen.
AbilityNet can provide more specific advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Web Standards
Content is presented as valid HTML5, CSS and ECMAScript (JavaScript). The web-site content works with assistive technologies that visitors might use, such as screen readers or text only browsers.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- Some form elements (specifically complex elements that utilise multiple html inputs) may work poorly with screen readers as only the first input will be referenced by the form label.
- Much of the content is dynamically generated. Dynamically generated content may be overly wide and re-flow poorly at high magnification (some webpage design elements could block out significant screen space of main content beyond a certain magnification)
- Change colours and font sizes: currently this functionality is only accessible via your web browser’s settings. Font styles are currently fixed and cannot be overwritten by a custom setting of the web browser.
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
EPCC at the University of Edinburgh is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 due to the known non-compliance listed in the section below.
Accessibility limitations
- Keyboard navigation only through most of the website is not working.
- Web based VDI is not accessible for screen readers. This is a complex issue to resolve and we are keen to work with you to investigate solutions.
- Redundant links and/ or textual content are present on many of the tested webpages.
- Navigating through most of the website using speech recognition software can be better tested.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on the 26th of February 2024.
This website was last tested on the 19th of January 2024. Tests were carried out in house by EPCC staff, using the services of Little Forest and WAVE. We used Little Forest to automatically scan webpages against WCAG guidelines (version 2.1). We used WAVE to carry out manual, rules-based testing, focusing on major errors and whether the HTML code of most pages is ARIA compliant.
